Brazil is a continental market with uneven network coverage, which shapes telecom hiring more than the technology does: field teams are intensely local, and a plan written for one region rarely transfers to another.
Certification gates field deployment
Most field roles require NR-35 certification for work at height — poles, towers, ladders — and where energised networks are involved, NR-10 as well. Both expire and require refresher training.
A technician with lapsed certification cannot climb on day one. Verify at screening rather than at the pre-admission medical, by which point the vacancy has returned to the start. Driving licence categories matter too, since most field roles involve a company vehicle.
Four distinct markets
Field and installation is the largest by volume and the most local. Network engineering is scarce, with a long learning curve, and loses people to cloud and product companies. NOC and operations runs continuous shifts. Regulatory and licensing is the least visible and the one whose absence most often stalls a rollout.
For an international operator, the regulatory function deserves particular attention: it combines technical understanding with proceedings before the sector regulator and municipal authorities, and the competence does not transfer from another jurisdiction.
Shift and travel decide acceptance
NOC roles run continuous shifts with statutory night premiums. Field roles involve daily travel and frequently on-call arrangements. In both, the rota weighs more heavily on a candidate's decision than pay does.
Model shift design before approving headcount — night and hazard premiums change employer cost directly. Follow-up continues for 90 days, where field attrition concentrates and the causes are predictable: route, on-call and the gap between the described routine and the real one.
