Why can investing in technology drive a business forward?
In a world where everything is faster and more connected, having a company that is agile and efficient is indispensable. The more modern the business, the better its chances of standing out against competitors.
But how do you stay ahead in a market that gets more competitive and more crowded by the day?
The quality of your product or service is not enough on its own; your business also needs to be well served by technology and qualified IT professionals. Without those resources there is no future for any company. That is why more and more companies are looking to improve processes, keep systems current and raise the quality of their information.
Here are the benefits your company gains from investing in technology:
Investing in technology and in IT professionals has become essential for companies
1 – Productivity
One of the benefits of that investment is automating processes. Repetitive, manual operations prone to errors and other setbacks give way to automated, safer processes. Software and other programmes support those tasks, saving employees' time and consequently increasing productivity.
2 – Fewer errors
By investing in technology, the number of errors tends to fall, and so do the losses to your business. Having tools that make work easier and more practical is one of the ways to minimise errors and make the working routine far safer and more efficient.
3 – Lower costs
By automating operations and routines, you can run more processes, better, in far less time. With the support of technology, costs can be reduced across a range of functions in your company.
4 – Integration and mobility
Many companies suffer from problems with communication, sharing information and access to important data day to day. Without integration, communication tends to get noisy. To centralise and organise those demands, generally in management and operations systems, the digital environment is fundamental. The more practical and fast the system, the fewer communication problems between functions.
Another benefit of technology relates to mobility. You can organise, administer, analyse and follow the company's other demands from anywhere with internet access. That secures the speed and efficiency that matter so much, and proves what sets you apart.
The IT professional: the profession of the future and the Brazilian market
If a company needs to invest in technology to hold a consolidated position in the market, there is also a worker who is indispensable in that process: the IT professional.
With growing technological demand across a wide range of fields, IT professionals are one of the keys to your business's success. The profession of the future matters more all the time, as we saw during the pandemic. According to the Conjuntura Econômica blog at FGV IBRE, that period was fundamental to the digitalisation of the economy, and workers in that field played an important part in the transition.
To give a sense of how important those professionals are, the study by the Brazilian Software Association (Abes), "The Brazilian Software Market – Overview and Trends", showed the sector could grow by 14.3% in 2022. In 2021, Brazil accounted for 1.65% of global investment in the field, worth US$46 billion. In Latin America, Brazil accounts for 40% of the US$115 billion invested in the sector, leading the region. For comparison, in 2004 the amount invested represented 36% of total investment.
Even with favourable growth prospects presented year after year, though, the sector's workforce is limited across several areas of information technology. A study by Brasscom, published in December 2021, found that the shortfall of IT workers in the market could reach 500,000 professionals by 2025. The same study also estimates that vacancies for professionals in software, ICT services and in-house IT in Brazil should reach 797,000 new posts over the following three years.
It is undeniable that investing in technology and in a good IT team is essential for companies. The profession of the future matters more all the time, and investing in those professionals, in training and in other improvements to their skills, has proved one of the soundest decisions for the survival and future of companies in the years ahead.
